The Pros And Cons Of Traditional Web Hosting Services

Even after the arrival of cloud hosting, there are still various businesses that strive to include cloud hosting servers. The logic behind this can be the annual and monthly service payments as well as data privacy that makes it completely understandable.  However, failing to analyze the overall profits is assuredly incorrect. Depending on traditional web hosting services may seem reliable, but even the traditional route can have some impediments that are difficult to neglect.

Here, in this blog, we will try to elaborate on the pros and cons of traditional web hosting services.

1. The Advantages of Shared hosting: Shared hosting allows you to share a single server with other people that allow you to share the expenses therefore making it cheaper. Since the limits are not exactly specified, you can use as much as you’d like depending on the traffic on your website. This program is ideal for small business that have less servers than bigger corporations.

The drawbacks of shared hosting:

Within shared hosting, you’re most likely sharing storage servers with larger websites. This can later result in a slower processing system and loading time due to huge trafficking on a single server. For example, if one website is sharing its resources with you and begins to receive a huge amount of traffic, the server’s memory will most likely suffer. Also, when you consume approximately 50% of the server memory and the number of websites who use the resources with you is 1000, the rest 999 including is left with only 50% of the server’s memory. Even the resource limits are not specified.

2. The Advantages of Dedicated servers: Dedicated servers allow you to be independent when using the storage server. Specifically, this means you own the serve and no one can share your server. The privacy protection is at an absolute maximum with this service. Moreover, dedicated servers allow you to customize your resources and servers according to your needs from your operating system to your storage space.

The drawbacks of dedicated hosting:

Dedicated servers is  definitely the best option for traditional hosting for big e-commerce or news/media websites but it can become a disadvantage in certain aspects. They allow the flexibility to customize your hosting server that both accommodate to your business needs as well as require professional knowledge about computers. If you’re not a computer geek, you can incorporate an in-house IT system that can take care of managing your hosting server. This may seem like a good idea, but this method can greatly add up the cost and become a burden if your company is not earning money to pay for these services.

3. The advantages of VPS: VPS continue to be the most balanced hosting servers alongside shared hosting. Compared to shared hosting, this method consist of less users and allows the equal use of resources along all participants who join. Your access and resources are limited to a moderate limit. This erases the problem of a bad neighbour which has become a regular problem within the shared hosting realm which is disabled in VPS.

The drawbacks of VPS: The Virtual Private Server (VPS) is the most balanced server hosting services and allows you to eliminate the chances of bad neighbour(They are called this because they end up using the same storage server and result in slower load time and other website problems) as the resources are divided equally. There aren’t as many drawbacks of using VPS, yet privacy does remain a concern that isn’t the case for dedicated hosting. Your data is stored in a storage space that become inaccessible from your end. As well as this, even if you don’t use your resources, you will end up paying for the service.
